MIAMI, Florida – The Dominican Republic stand atop Group C of the 2022 Concacaf Men’s Under-17 Championship Qualifiers following a key 5-1 win over Saint Kitts and Nevis on Saturday night at the Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Saint Kitts and Nevis were first to find the scoresheet, as Devauhn Mills scored in the 33’ to give the Sugar Boyz a 1-0 halftime advantage.

But a strong second half swung things in favor of the host nation, beginning with Juan Peralta’s 1-1 equalizer in the 47’. Lucas Breton then gave the Dominican Republic their first lead of the night at 2-1 in the 55’, followed by a Saint Kitts and Nevis own goal in the 64’ and a Nicolas Cruz goal in the 67’ to make it 4-1. Alejandro Sapeg then completed the 5-1 scoreline with a goal in the 80’.

The day’s other game in Group C saw the Cayman Islands collect their first win in a 2-0 final over Dominica.

After a scoreless first 45 minutes, the Cayman Islands took control, starting with Javon Henry’s goal in the 58’ for a 1-0 lead. Jahmai Bennett then scored an insurance goal in the 68’ to cement the 2-0 win.
